Domaine de Coyeux

Domaine de Coyeux

The vineyards of the Beaumes-de-Venise region trace back to 600 BC. However, it was not until the 1950s that the first vines were planted at Domaine de Coyeux. In 2013, the Hugues de Feraudy family, the current owners of Domaine de Coyeux, purchased and modernized the winery.

Situated at a high altitude of 300m on the Coyeux mountain range, the vineyards are influenced by the famous Mistral winds, which create a microclimate for excellent growing seasons. These winds provide air currents, which allow for healthy grapes and aromatic wines. Strict vineyard management with organic enrichment and grape selection, harvested by hand, ensures the highest quality. They specialize in producing wines using Muscat petit grain for their white wines and Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre for their reds.

The Winery

Situated in Rhone Valley, France

Spanning over 112 hectares along the southern side of the Dentelles de Montmirail lies Domaine de Coyeux’s continuous vineyards. The combination of well-known Trias soil types, an ideal planting location and the exceptional climate winds create the perfect balance, complexity and quality to their wines.

The Trias soil type, which is characterized by pores filled with clay, captures the winter waters from the soil and releases it in the summer months, which nourishes the root system of the vines. This reduces vine stress during the course of hot summer days. The vineyards’ specific location on the mountains of Coyeux allows for fresh air currents to circulate through the vines during the summer months, which contribute to their delicate aromatic wines. The vineyards also receive the benefits of having the mistral winds pass through them shortly after rainfall, thus preventing parasites and drying foliage from becoming an issue.
