Strega Alberti Benevento

Liquore Strega

Legend has it that Benevento, the birthplace of Strega, was the seat of Witches rites in the 1800s. Witches gathered around a magical walnut and they created a potent potion that united couples forever if they drank it. In 1860 Giuseppe Alberti and his apothecary father revised this ancient Witches’ recipe creating a herbal liqueur that had the power as a love potion. This is how Strega (Witch) was born.

This provocative Liquore Strega is distilled from a mixture of 70 different herbs and spices sourced from Europe, Central America and the Orient. This array of botanicals are carefully selected from pristine regions of the world and combined diligently in order to produce this distinct and original liqueur. The liqueur is aged in ash barrels and is not released until it is properly aged to perfection and the flavours are amalgamated into unity. The recipe for this 100% natural liqueur is a closely guarded secret held by the Alberti family and has been handed down through five generations from father to son.

The Spirits

The Distillery

Situated in Campania, Italy

Liquore Strega is known as one of the most efficient industrial examples in southern Italy, combining a distillery sector for the spirits and confectionery sector for the exemplary sweets produced. Over the many years, the production has evolved and grown, but the traditions carried down from the Alberti family and Master pastry chefs are still used to date.

The recipe used for Liquore Strega is still a guarded secret kept within the family, which adds to the mystery and charm of this liquid sunshine. They still operate in the original historical building next to the train station in Campania as they did 160+ years ago. Giuseppe Alberti specifically chose a location close to the railway station in order to facilitate the export of his product all over the country. This legacy and dream have been fulfilled and today, they produce one of the most famous Italian liqueurs, distribute across 50 countries worldwide, and produce Strega-infused desserts.
