Tenuta di Angoris

Tenuta Di Angoris

Tenuta di Angoris was founded by Baron Locatello Locatelli and it has been supplying wine to the royal courts of Europe since 1648. The estate was a retreat for royalty and the elite of the Hapsburg Empire while under its rule. The Locatelli family has been connected with the Angoris estate since the beginning and since 1968, the winery has been run by the family of Giulio Locatelli. Today, it is managed with a young, energetic, entrepreneurial spirit to best express the Isonzo Friuli region, which produces some of the Friuli region’s best wines.

The name Angoris derives from the Roman Latin word “longória,” meaning long fields or strip of land. The respect of the land and the people that tend to it is an important aspect of the Angoris philosophy, as it represents the roots of their family heritage. Located in Friuli, Angoris produces excellent wines using traditional and indigenous grape varieties.

The Winery

Situated in Friuli, Italy

The Tenuta di Angoris estate is located on a mosaic of forest and cultivated land on the outskirts of Cormons, in the DOC area, with 60 hectares of vineyards adorning the estate. With a rich history of more than 370 years producing and supplying wine in the region, the estate is steeped in pedigree. This connection to the land is the roots of the estate’s identity and therefore, in respect to this land that has provided for them, they have adopted a sustainable approach to vineyard management to ensure the land is respected and kept healthy for future generations. Constantly upgrading equipment and staying in touch with innovation in the winery and in the vineyards keeps the estate current.

The People

The estate began with Baron Locatelli when he was given it by the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire as a gift for his exemplary contributions during the Thirty Year War, which ended in 1648. It has been an active estate for over 370 years. Since 1968 the estate has been managed by the family of Giulio Locatelli with both his son, Luciano and granddaughter Marta at the helm. Their dedication and commitment to the estate has established it as an important producer of the Friuli region with great representation of wines from the region’s top three districts, Collio, Friuli Colli Orientali and Friuli Isonzo.

The Locatelli family has always been associated with the Angoris winery, starting with Baron Locatello Locatelli in 1648, to the family of Giulio Locatelli in 1968: Giulio’s son, Luciano, and his granddaughter, Marta, who now runs the winery.
